Introduction
Islamabad College for Girls F-6/2 was founded on 1st May 1968 as Islamabad Model School for Girls.
Founded in 1967, Islamabad Model College for Girls (Post Graduate) F-7/2 , Islamabad, formerly known as Federal Government College for Women, F-7/2, is the oldest girls institution in Islamabad.
It offers HSSC, Degree and Post Graduate classes in Science and Humanities. The number of enrolled students is 3500 approximately.
The college campus is ideally located at the center of the city. College is easily accessible from Rawalpindi and rural areas of Islamabad. It spreads over 13 acres and offers excellent facilities for the students. The College is affiliated with the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Islamabad at the Higher Secondary School level, where are Degree and Postgraduate classes are affiliated with the Quaid-i-Azam University. The college is reputed for having excellent results in Board and University examinations along with top academic positions. Faculty of Home Economics has now been upgraded and established as the Federal Government College of Home Ecnomics and Management Sciences, (at present functioning in the same premises). The College possesses well qualified and skilled faculty members who are involved in multi-dimensional tasks of educating and preparing the future generations of Pakistan. The academic session for HSSC classes is determined by the Federal Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Islamabad and for the Degree and Post Graduate classes by the Quaid-i-Azam university. Usually, it commences from the middle of August and ends in may the following year. Medium of instruction in this college is both English and Urdu for Humanities. For Faculty of Science the medium of instruction is only English
